Pano Platres is the most renowned mountain summer resort of Cyprus, situated on the southern slopes of Troodos only 39km from Limassol. Pano Platres is a very old village listed among the 119 villages that belonged to the Limassol district in the time of the Francs (1192 - 1489 AD). The development of tourism in Cyprus began in Pano Platres, in the early years of the 20th century. Among the sights are paths that wind through the pine forest to the refreshing Caledonian and Millomeri waterfalls and the beautiful brick-built residences. There are also taverns, coffee-shops, places of entertainment, two banks, souvenir shops and many restaurants.
