Limassol Shopping Guide

Limassol provides an entire range of shopping options, from traditional and handcrafted to ultra modern. You’ll spot European products alongside local items and as in the other parts of the island, custom made clothes and shoes are delivered in just a few days. Limassol is an agreeable place to pass time. There are numerous cafés and a large market that sells local fruit and vegetables. You’ll also find plenty of shops selling copies of designer handbags as well as genuine products at competitive prices.

St Andrews Street is a perfect example of this. Situated quite close to the seafront promenade, the quaint buildings with their overhanging terraces and the narrow, bustling street-life make this a fascinating trip. This is where you will find more of the traditional goods. If it's something more modern you are searching for, Makarious Avenue is the place to head. Here you will find a number of high-end stores, offering unique jewellery, leather goods and a whole range of European goods.

Limassol’s traditional shopping lanes are Anexartisias Street and Ayios Andreas. Its cobbled lanes are a world away from the modern city and will lend a wonderful ambience to your shopping expedition.

Supermarkets

Many western supermarkets and stores such as Carrefour, Orphanidies and Debbenhams can be found in Limassol and are generally located in the outskirts of the city.

Markets

There are several Saturday Markets, especially near Carrefour in the tourist area of Limassol, where one can find good bargains. There is a Sea Sponge exhibition that you can see at the roundabout at the Old Port, but be aware that sea sponges can be rather pricey.

Souvenirs

Popular purchases include the famous sea sponges of Cyprus which are used as bath and facial scrubs, and loofas, which are used as bath scrubs and can be found at most tourist or souvenir stores.

Another popular purchase is Lefkara lace or other lace items, which can be bought in Limassol or in any city other than Lefkara, as prices are much higher there due to the large number of tourists visiting during the busy season.

While buying souvenirs in Limassol can be fun, if you are a serious shopper, then you must visit the shops on Ledra Street on Nicosia, which not only have great products but also a wonderful ambience.

Opening Hours

Most shops are open Monday to Friday from 0900–1300 and 1500–1900. On Saturdays shops are open only from 0900–1300. There are some convenience shops, called Periptero in Greek, that are open 24 hours.
